The Journey is the Point (Substack Writings)

For those in reinvention, rebirth or reset mode — working through transitioning out of an identity into something more whole, or reigniting once again — here are a few things to remember as we all move through our phases.

For Your Journey know this …

It’s messy. There’s no way around this. You’re taking an old identity, old beliefs, old ways of being and doing, and releasing them for good so a healthier, more stable foundation can emerge as you transition to something new. Nothing about that is clean or neat. It’s cleaning out that scary basement, with all the accumulated stuff you’ve been avoiding for years. You’ll need to look at each thing before you release it to make space for the new, and that can get real messy. But it’s worth the work — no shame, no judgement. So get ready for messy. Bring gloves, good music, good snacks, and trusted loved ones

No rush, but still keep moving forward. Timing and pacing both matter, but they’re not the same thing. Timing is the right moment. Pacing is the right speed. And of the two, timing is the more recognizable. You’ve probably heard of divine timing — the idea that things happen exactly when they’re supposed to. In a lot of spiritual circles, there’s a shared understanding that timing can’t be rushed or controlled. It unfolds based on what you need, exactly when you need it. No sooner, no later. But pacing? That one we don’t talk about as much — and it’s actually the one you can work with to move toward your right timing. Right pacing is about continued forward motion — listening to your intuition and taking aligned action when it’s called for. It’s not about controlling progress, but allowing progress as you take aligned action. What most people don’t realize is that allowing pacing is the magic — it’s what actually gets you to divine timing. So, there is no rush. But also, the more you move toward aligned action, the closer you’ll get to your right timing.

One step forward, two steps back, and so on. Here’s the thing to accept: you’re going to go back and forth for a while. Some days, you’ll be happy to feel like you’re finally releasing and moving on from older versions of you. Other days, that forward motion will grant you two steps backward when you find yourself triggered again, or too exhausted to take any action at all. No worries — this is normal. The best thing we can do is keep moving forward. One step back, no problem. Tomorrow, we strive for a step forward — even half a step is a win. So my advice: bring your dancing shoes.

Reminder:

Reinvention, change, reset, personal transformation — it isn’t always easy, and it’s not meant to be. You always hear: it’s the journey that counts. And here’s the thing — that’s the absolute truth. Because in the journey through change, you find yourself. You find your resilience, your strength, your capacity for love, softness, and tenderness. You find your greater ability to show up — for yourself, for others, and for what you want.

The journey is the point. Just be aware of what you’ll find along the way.

So don’t stop and keep going.🤍 ~ C
